Emily

Emily was first diagnosed with Tourette's in October. It took a long time and a lot of appointments to finally get to where we are. After diagnosis that was it no help, nowhere to turn to for any information and to be honest we all just felt a little lost.

She is 9 now but has had tics since around the age of 7. At home she is relaxed school is a whole different situation.  She tends to suppress tics which is obviously exhausting for her and leads to big tics attacks when she gets home. She does struggle some days and tells me sometimes she wished she didn't have Tourette's and wants to be like her twin sister. Emily will always have the love and support that she needs from us. The school that she attends haven't been so great as they just don't seem to have enough knowledge and they don't seem willing enough to learn.  

The day out to M&Ds was the first time Emily had met other children with Tourette's, and she was so happy to finally have someone who knows exactly how she is feeling. She was extremely anxious to begin with but soon began to relax and enjoy the day. It has really helped her to fell a little more confident in herself.
