MSP Sarah Boyack, MSP for Lothian, has just raised a motion in the Scottish Parliament calling for better awareness, training and national guidance on Tourette Syndrome 🙌
Tourette Scotland have been fighting for years and continues to do so.
We need your help 🙏
Living with Tourette’s and the coexisting conditions in our own houses and working within the TS community for years, we’ve seen firsthand how much misunderstanding still exists — especially in schools, health and workplace. This motion is a huge step toward real change.
Please take 2 minutes to email your MSP asking them to support motion S6M-19389.

Subject: Support for Motion S6M-19389 – Awareness & Guidance for Tourette Syndrome
Dear (MSP’s Name),
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing as a constituent and in support of the recently-lodged motion by Sarah Boyack MSP — Motion S6M-19389 titled Support for Tourette Scotland and Greater Awareness and Inclusion for People with Tourette Syndrome.
This motion recognises the vital work of Tourette Scotland in providing support, advocacy and education for people affected by Tourette syndrome, and it calls for urgent national action to improve diagnosis, school staff training, inclusion in the ASL framework and better co-ordination across health, education and social care.
I would be grateful if you would consider supporting this motion, as I believe it presents a timely opportunity to:
Put in place national guidelines for the diagnosis and management of Tourette syndrome, removing the current “flip of the coin” scenario where access to the right specialist and support depends on where you live.
Develop a national training programme for teachers and school staff, ensuring early recognition and appropriate support in education settings.
Ensure Tourette Scotland’s expertise is formally recognised and partnered with, so that children and families across Scotland can access consistent, high quality information, support and advocacy.
Include Tourette-specific guidance within the wider Additional Support for Learning (ASL) framework and mental health strategies, to ensure mainstream services are equipped and accessible.
In my experience, and on behalf of many families, children are still being recognised far too late, or not at all, meaning they miss vital early intervention and support. This motion offers a concrete step toward equitable access and understanding for children and adults with Tourette syndrome across Scotland.
If you are willing to support this motion, I would welcome your assurance that you will sign on to it and, where possible, speak in favour during any debate or committee consideration.
Thank you for your time and for your consideration of this important issue. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
