6th - 7th June 2009

In the light of the success of the recent documentary, "I swear I can't help it", it was decided to make this, our 5th meeting, a celebration.

John shared with the group some of the feedback received from the documentary.  Thank you John for yet again allowing us to share in your inspirational story.

A presentation was made to John to express our thanks and admiration.  On receiving his gift of a fishing permit, John expressed that this would probably be the first time that he would be 'legal' on the Tweed and the Gala Water.

A discussion followed on the documentary when everyone expressed their feelings on how it felt watching and being a part of it, the positive impact that it has had on all our lives.  Overwhelming admiration for all who took part and to the producer and director, Philipa for her sensitivity and craft of brilliantly editing this production (to Gail and the crew).

Quality of Life in Gilles De La Tourette Syndrome Survey was handed out and completed.  Thanks to all who participated as we value the importance of research into TS.

It was announced that Tourette Scotland had been awarded a grant from Children in Need and would be able to hold an Activity Weekend for families affected by living with TS and that the date was to be decided.  Footnote:  A successful and enjoyable Weekend was held recently in Perthshire.  Watch this space.

Liz gave us an insight into Habit Reversal Therapy/Training.  Liz has applied her experience in research to this method and its teaching with the help of medical experts and will be presenting some of the results of this research at a Tourettes Action meeting in London.  Updates will follow.

The date of the next meeting will be Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October 2009.
